Not sure I like the idea, I actually bothered to watch it and so many of the dogs were not just playing. Quite a few seemed absolutely terrified as larger pups knocked them to the floor.

Half the time their tails were between their legs.I wonder how many people just look and go oh they're wrestling how cute! Look he's biting at the other puppy awwww.

Maybe it's just me but it's the same behaviour i see in dogs parks and then when it breaks out into a serious fight everyone seems mystified going OMG but they were playing and having fun a second ago!

I agree.
Especially since some dogs were much more rough in their playing than others. For example (I didn't watch the whole thing - or too much of it for that matter) but I went online and checked out what breeds of puppies they had, and there were little shih tzus and poodles mixes, in with a 44lb 14 weeks old Alaskan Malamute pup. I didn't see if this pup caused any issues as far as bullying, but I thought it an odd thing since there wasn't even another pup to match him or anything..

Anyways: on a more positive note, atleast they used mixed breeds from - I believe - shelters. Last year it was all purbreds from - petshops? breeders? I'm not sure. But I thought it was good to see the mixes - and a couple purebreds - from a shelter.

I have no idea where the puppies are from but no the gigantic malamute puppy didn't cause any trouble from when I stopped watching. i was when he was pout the a little westy pup or something was getting terrorised.

I missed it, but I'm sure they'll have re-runs. I'll have to check out the breeds on the website though.

Puppies are cute no matter what they're doing.

No...I'm not wrong. A tucked in tail is a tucked in tail, very clear body language what else would you take it for, having a good time? Fear biting and getting bullied is not playing.

Why are you people so worryed about the puppy bowl? Roll Eyes because its mother nature for a puppy to play fight to be the head pup.and if they had older dogs in it then I whould agree with you!

Uhm...dogs aren't natural we made them, so no the mother nature thing doesn't really stick >_> If those same dogs got out and had to live in the wild as adults you would have perhaps 5% survive if any at all.

Dogs playing in the "Puppy Bowl" certainly isn;t mother nature, and by the time puppies are 8-10 weeks old we should be establishing rules and boundaries. Such as what is acceptable play or not.

Bullying is simply NOT proper dogs manners or appropriate play. And why would I NOT worry about it? if I see a show presented as cute and adorable where the behaviour or actions displayed concerns me I certainly will comment on it. That is why I'm "worrying" about the puppy bowl.

Same way I "worry" about Planet's funniest animals. Food guarding by growling and snarling over a bone is cute there too.

Then when the puppy becomes dog aggresive everyone will wonder why. Because it's learned that other dogs bully it into the ground and antagonise them so the only defence is to be pro-actively aggresive.

No most of it wasn't funny

As I mentioned half of it were dogs with ocd (blender goes on they chase their tails)
Dogs attacking people
(toy dogs are cute when they growl and snap at people don't you know)
That and the commentators were always annoying. I can't even keep it on as background noise I just change the channel.

Chapter nine in Cesar's way=Though it may be a blow to our oversize human egos, the truth of the matter is,we need dog's more than they need us.If humans were to disappear from the face of the earth tomorrow, dogs would manage to survive. They would follow their genetic blue-prints and form packs,in much the same way their WOLF relatives still do.They would continue to raise their pups very much as they do today. In many ways, they might be happier.so saying dogs would die, was SOOOO WRONG!!!! NEXT PAGE IN CESAR'S WAY=THE golden light of magic hour begins to descend on this deserted southern California beach as I leap into the middle of a shallow wave and throw a tennis ball with all my might.Yelping with joy, every dog in the pack bounds after it,competing to be the one that gets to bring it back to me-but never fighting with one another for its possession.Anyone who knows dogs knows what a miracle this is-but I'am a good pack leader and they're good followers. The rules are the rules, and everybody knows it.Carlitos,a three-legged pit-bull,gets the prize this time,a testament to his sheer determination. The others bark after him as he hobbles back to me,droppig the ball into my hand and looking at me with happyness in his eyes. The sun is red on the rim of the Pacific as we truge up the rocky path back to the van. We'er all exhausted but happy.Tonight, all forty plus dogs at the center will sleep soundly.I'll sleep well, too, knowing that I've helped fulfill their lives-just as they have already succeeded in fulfilling mine. - Cesar Millan the dog whisperer. Cesar's way, the New York Times Bestseller. by reading this book and watching his show,I now understand dogs more than ever! and I'am so glad that my dogs are happy that I'am there pack leader! and you don't have to like the puppy bowl or planet's funniest animals! because to me both shows are boring! hope your pack is happy - PackLeader

I have read the book and I love him for his continual support of the American Pitbull terrier and other maligned breeds.

However here we don't have Neo Geo on basic cable. Only when I go home to the Bahamas. so I can't watch his show. Plus half the time I do catch it it's an episode I've seen already >_<

I do agree that the puppy's are a little harsh to each other, but my dog does the same thing when she's playing.

And the whole point of the show is to adopt those puppies (and more) out to good homes.

And also, the tail tuck, that was for submissive purposes. After that, they were having fun again.

You are so right! There was this one crazy Westie that the other dogs were freaking out over! It looks like it's on the border of animal cruelty! They don't have food either for them what if they are starving? Just a small bowl of water at the end of the "field"
