I was just wondering are there any alternatives? I don't want to completely spay my puppy just yet. I am thinking about maybe breeding her. I was wondering if there is anything out there that can keep her for coming in heat? I don't know if there is, but if there is let me know.
I think there was a pill or something, but it can cause major health problems and most vets wouldn't give you it. Not positive on it though- it's been awhile since I was reading that stuff. Are you planning on showing your girl or what? There's no need to add more puppies to the world that are from dogs that shouldn't be bred. What's her breeder's opinion of you breeding her? Was her breeder reputable- if so, why isn't she on a spay contract?
If you just wanted to breed her for yourself and not for show or any good reason, there is no need to breed her. If you want a cute little fluffy puppy please go adopt one instead of risking your pets health.

I agree. Your girl shouldn't be bred if she isn't going to be shown in conformation or an event that has to do with what she was bred for. Breeding for yourself isn't the responsible thing to do, at all. There are MILLIONS of dogs in shelters that need homes, so what's wrong with just getting one of them? Here's a good link to show you the risks of breeding.
If there is such a thing, I'm sure it's a really bad idea.
Besides the whole "There are too many puppies in shelters right now that will end up euthanized so you shouldn't breed her..." and all the other showing reasons, it's best to have your girl spayed before her first heat cycle as it drastically reduces her chances of getting mammary cancer. After each heat cycle, the chances get higher. Not to mention the risk of an infected uterus. Those are not easy, pretty or cheap to remove.
I agree with the spaying and not breeding her. If it's just for you it's not a good idea, we don't need anymore dogs in shelters because they can't be taken care of. Plus, unless your an experienced qualified breeder I wouldn't suggest it AT ALL. The vet bills can stack up if an emergency happens & your dog will be healthier if you fix her.
