Sounds like a play behavior rather then a bad habit. Is she wrecking things? If so, she may be board.

I didn't know that rat terriers came in toy.

Yes she is a toy. It may be play but I still want it to stop. She has enough things to chew on. She just starts doing it at no particular time. She can be sitting on me & start digging on the chair. She's 3 months old.

She's doing it because she has excess energy and wants to do something. Playing with her and exercising her more will help, as well as a firm no and when she begins doing it. You have to train her out of the behavior.

My comment that they I didn't know they came in toy is because only the NRTA recognizes toy as a classification. Not the AKC or UKC.

ANY breed will come in toy if you look hard enough. There's even rottie toys now(with no rottie in them). And I heard rumors about toy boxers.

Some time in the future I bet someone will start selling 'Toy Teacup Yorkshires.'

I think the point she was hinting it is recognized breeds. for instance there is no such true recognized breed as the toy chihuahua for instance. Often times behavioural problems come from the dog simply being from some failed attempt at making another fad breed. The strive for toy often precipitates type and you can find many toy or teacup breeds being far more frequent with problems such as being super neurotic.

I've heard about serious health problems in toys or teacups. I didn't know about behavioral problems as well. But that does make sense. How sad.

Toy is a certain type for some AKC and UKC dogs, Rat Terrier not being one of them.

I was being facetious.
