I would love to start a doggy day care in my house. I am only 13 but with the help of my mom, I think I could do it. If you or someone you know owns a home based doggy day care, please help me answer these questions if you can: *About how much money do you charge an hour? *How much money do you earn a year? *On a scale of 1 to 10, how hard do you think this job is? *Is it legal to start a doggy day care in your home? *Is this job worth the time? I would really appreciate the help! Thanks
I have never had a doggie day care at my home. Though I have always wanted to. But I do babysit dogs. At the owners house and sometimes my home. The one thing that all the owners required is that I could do doggie CPR. And that I could also take care of cuts or other things at home. Or if they were serious injuries that I could drive them to the vet. And another thing that they wanted is that I would bath, brush, feed, and walk their dog(s) for them.
And about your doogie day care. You could try and hold puppy classes you could make some extra side money. If you don't know what puppy classes are it is where you get puppies together and soclize them. But make sure that all the puppies have all there shots. And if they don't, and this goes for the entire thing, you shouldn't take them in. They need their shots before you should except them into anything. Plus, having a grooming area would be a BIG plus. Peole usaly don't like grooming their dogs. But the grooming and puppy classes you should not do as part of the doogie day care. It should be a chocie by the owner if they want either of those things done.
And you also need a large yard, kennels or holding area, and if you have the large yard, it will need a strong high fence. Plus, all the dogs would need consant super-vision. And you will probaly need sepreat areas for the small and large dogs. And an area where you could keep several non-dog-friendly-dogs. Which brings up the kennels or holding area. But if you go with kennels every time you put a different dog in them you need to clean it out with strong disinfection liquid, to kill germs and bactercai. And if you don't want to have to go through all the problems with a non-dog-friendly-dog then you should not except them. And I'm sure there are problay laws on having a doggie day care at your own home. This is a huge commitment. It will require a lot of money, hard work, and determanation. And two out of three won't cut it either. Good Luck though.
