I found this on a site meant for those dealing with pet loss and thought it was appropriate for repeating.
A Prayer for Animals
Hear our humble prayer, O God, for our friends, the animals, especially for those who are suffering; for any that are lost or deserted or frightened or hungry.
We entreat for them all Thy mercy and pity, and for those who deal with them, we ask a heart of compassion and gentle hands and kindly words.
Make us, ourselves, to be true friends to animals and so to share the blessings of the merciful.
I think this might be off topic a little, but when I was watching House last night, there was a man in a wheelchair with his assistant dog, and he passed out in the middle of the road and the dog stayed behind to try to help him. And then a car was headed towards them and the driver was messin with the radio and stopped just before she hit the cripple and the dog. But I was yellin out for the dog to run and leave the cripple to get run over. I would kill a human before I would ever kill a dog or meerkat, is that bad??? But in the end both wound up dying because the dog ate the pills that would cure him, and it killed the dog. Just gettin that off my mind.
SusyBear, tapirs, Please go to Flowers Tribute Letters at GoogolMeHere.com and write your poems. They are so sweet. Get in with Flowers email address on the Invitation from sponsor on home page. FlowersReach@aol.com Anyone else that wants to contribute is invited also. I am her first "Friend" and I made the first post. Hope to see you there. I think it would be awesome if we can get all the poems and letters in one place. Maybe a Book can be made, and the profits go to something for our beloved Meerkats. Who knows. And we can all contribute to it.
southernmeerkatmd, I exactly shared your reaction to "House"!! I was all tensed up waiting for the dog to be run over, and knowing he wasn't going to move. I was sad that he died eventually, but he died with his dad so they stayed together. I could never run over an animal if I could help it and would wreck my car rather than have that on my conscience. Not wrong in my book!!
