I live in Washington and was dismayed by the recent episode which featured Lynn, the DC nanny. I truly cannot understand why some women are so attached to their hair. It was obvious that Lynn had deep rooted insecurities about her height and body, but her hair was truly awful.

Lynn treated Nick in a condescending and dismissive manner. I thought it was very selfish of her to not cut her hair. She nominated herself; she should have kept up her part of the agreement and gone through the full transformation (i.e. she kept some her sweatshirts and she did not have her hair styled).

Perhaps the producers of the show should have asked her to return some of the money that they gave her for her new wardrobe.

I think that Nick should think about showing people like Lynn (i.e. hairstyle phobic) a video for Locks of Love, the organization which makes wigs for children with cancer.

Lynn could have cut a foot of her hair, donated it to Locks of Love and still kept her ultra-long and dreadful hair.

They need to get a back bone and should have returned the clothes and sent her packing. You agree to a makeover and 5000.00 dollars do what you ae told or go home. Her hair looked like a rats nest and the makeup could not perform miracles.

Poor Carmindy...she really was trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

Actually, I posted about this before, but Lynn had a blog at one time. Not sure if it still exits and I had communicated with her about the mall tours as I was also called by TLC after my mall tour. In her blog, Lynn said she had contacted the producers after the hair incident and agreed to pull out but the producers wished to go ahead with the show. Although may have been the "right" thing for her to do at the time they had already invested so much time and money on her makeover they probably felt it was best to go ahead with it. I think Locks of Love is a separate issue. It is quite possible they would have declined even if she had offered to donate her hair. I do not mean to say that as insulting but that they probably have really high standards that maybe people would not meet.

The fact is that Lynn's hair was a nightmare. Lynn's was the least successful makeover I've seen on this show, and Lynn was one of the worst people they could have chosen. This has nothing to do with her features: it's all about her really poor attitude. I just wanted to slap her silly. (Actually, I've just seen three episodes (Maria from Boston, Lynn, and the bad singer/actress from San Francisco). I wanted to slap all of them.)

The woman was a cow and a troll, send her and her bad 'tude back under the bridge with her awful sweat shirts...for the "sweat" hog.

I've already made two other comments...Clint, Stacy, Nick and Carmindy need halos after this episode...

Thank you, Pinksneakers. All of this Lynn bashing is getting old-- would it be possible to post a link to that blog so that all of these hateful people can seen that the poor woman did indeed try to pull out of the show after nominating herself?

Smile I am not sure if it is still active. I have not looked at it for months. I initially found it by doing a google search on "mall tours" "WNTW" since I was interested in hearing whether anyone had been picked for the mall tours. I found her blog and posted a brief message to which she responded. Later, on the this board (likely February, you can probably do a search) and find a post to which we communicated. I am not sure if she has posted on these boards lately but she has posted after her episode even giving helpful information about her makeover on the show and answering questions. Her user name would give you a clue as to who posting but most people missed it. You could search my posts and probably find I remarked on it before. I do think in some ways she was overly criticized. I likely would not post her blog if did find it. I might but right now I do not have it and do not want to invade her privacy or cause her distress. I did communicate with her after the show on the blog and told that although I disagreed with her decision I disapproved of her treatment on the board and suggested that she tell her side of the story on the board. She suggested that she would consider doing that. One thing is that she was reading the posts on this site for some time after sher show aired and she did respond to posts with helpful information. She did not respond to the posts written against her.

I finally saw the Lynn episode. I found her to be funny, honest and didn't think she was rude or snotty at all.
It looked like Stacy and Clinton were having fun with Lynn. The bit with the sweatshirts was hysterical. There have been other MOs that have fought for items, but I think this was one of the best struggles I have seen. And what is wrong with keeping a couple of sweatshirts? I'm sure most of us like wearing sweatshirts around the house.
Lynn had several clothing challenges and I think Stacy and Clinton tried to do their best. They had a hard time finding pieces that were long enough for her and it looked like most of the things she had needed to be altered. But I don't understand why they didn't take her to any stores with clothing for tall women. There is another thread on here talking about some of the options for tall women and they chose not to explore any of them.

And even though she was someone who didn't wear make-up, she allowed Carmindy to do whatever Carmindy wanted. It looked like Carmindy was having fun doing her face. Also, she did let Carmindy tweeze her eyebrows. She could have told Carmindy you weren't touching my face, but she allowed her to have carte blanche.
Nick would have given her another of his hohum boring hairdos and I'm glad she didn't allow herself to be another of his victims. He came off as childish, especially when he did that bit with Carmindy after he was finished with Lynn. No other makeover has been treated with such disdain by Nick and I doubt I will watch the show again after seeing that. How the show could have allowed that, I don't know or understand.
As for Locks of Love, if her hair was as damaged as Nick made it out to be, Locks of Love would not have accepted the donation of hair. Nick also said he would cut off 6 inches. 6 inches is not enough for a Locks of Love donation. If you look at the website, the minimum donation is 10 inches. If it had been under 10 inches, it would have been sold. And if that is the case, isn't donating money just as good as donating hair?
