I have a high-rise twin bed that is now located in my loft. We are usuing it as seating for this area and as an occasional guest bed. It has no headboard, backboard, sideboards, etc like a daybed. I need some help on figuring out what kind of covering to put on it so it doesn't look so much like a bed in an open area. I'm hoping to make it look like a couch. I do plan on getting lots of throw pillows to line the back with but just can't figure out what type of covering to use. I currently have a twin size comforter on it. It looks like a bed! Please help if you can! Thanks!

If you can sew at all, you can get a piece of upolstry fabric and drape it like a comforter. If you have the sewing skill, you can add a tailored skirt to the front. Otherwise you can just finish it with either a hem or cording of some kind. If you can't sew, you can use fusing (like stitch witch) to fuse the hems. If you really want to have it look more like a sofa, you might want to make long bolsters for the back, not only for support while sitting, but to help remove the look of a bed. Throwing pillows in front of the bolsters will also help bring the back forward so that your knees will hit the front of the sofa rather than having your feet just sticking off the end. Hope this helps. Smile

I think what you want is a bedcap. It is a fitted covering that takes the "bulk" out of corners by mitering them. Think of it as a fitted sheet without the elastic. It is easy enough to do...purchase quilted fabric and cut it to size. For the length, you will need 76" plus however thick your mattress is, times 2. For example, if your mattress is 10", you would need 96" cut length, which would equal 3 yards. For the width, you would need 39" plus the thickness of the mattress times 2. Then you pin your corners into a mitre, inside out, stitch them down, hem all around the bottom and you are good to go!
