Hello everyone,

This is a post I really don't want to write and it is being done with great sadness. Roy's wife, Laura, had been battling an illness for quite sometime, and last week she succumbed to that illness and passed away. She and Roy were soul mates and needless to say that devastated Roy. Last night Roy joined her in Heaven. He passed away ending his bought with lung cancer.

We wanted to let all of you who wrote in know that Roy did get your messages. He, as well as his family and all of us at Boyd Coddington's Garage appreciated all your thoughts and prayers. Roy was very special to us and he will be sorely missed.

May God bless Roy and Laura.

Thank you Roy.

Thank-you Todd for sharing the devestating news. I did not know about Roy's wife being ill as well. It is not rare when soulmates pass so close together. May they both rest in peace.

Todd - thanks for letting us know. That is very sad news, but it is also comforting to know that they are together again. Sincerce sympathy to Roy's family and to his family he worked with. He will be missed by all who knew him and also the ones who wish they had known him.

So sad to hear about Roy. He was a true master craftsman and will solely be missed in this world. Whether it was doing the lead work on a 57 chevy or mooning a train Roy did his job to the best of his ability. Rest in Peace

It is so sad to hear about Roy and his wife, while I didn't know his wife I'm sure she was a good person, I had met Roy several times many years back. Roy was a great guy and a true craftsman, he will be missed by everyone in the car fields, no matter if a hot rodder or restorer. I always enjoyed seeing Roy on AHR and laughed when he was doing his oxy/acet bombs & his falling asleep at the bench trick, what a joker. Goodbye Roy, you will be missed by everyone you touched.

A overwhelmimg sense of loss is being felt. May the family of Roy and Laura know that they will always be remembered. Prayers for you and hope you can grasp what Roy did for all of us that was fortunate to have gotten to know him through the program. They are both together now in a place where there is no pain and suffering.

Todd,
Thank you for the updates and news about Roy and his wife, while I never personally met Roy I am very sad to hear about his death and his wifes,I am sure that they were both wonderful people.Roy appeared like the type of person who really enjoyed life and was truely happy, we can say that about so few people these days.Roys work was superior, for it to be that good he had to love doing it.Roy reminds me of my uncle, who happens to be a great mechanic and a love for cars, like Roy has. He is also terminally ill and will not be with us much longer. Men like Roy and my uncle are not ever going to be replaced, but will live on in all of the knowledge and skills that they have passed down to us younger guys over the years. I still go see my uncle weekly, he loves to just sit at the table and talk about all of the great cars he has had and worked on over the many years of his life.
My sincere condolences to all of Roy and Laura's family and friend, I am sure that you all miss Roy and his wife more than his fans will ever know.
May God bless you all

A double tragedy to say the least...words cannot describe the sad feelings,Roy was the one I most favored on the show, and it hits hard.I am glad that our messages got to him before this, and hopefully they brought a moment of happiness to what must have been a very difficult few months for him.I sure hope AHR gives him a tribute show, and that some reminder of him is placed in the shop in plain view of all those who work there and for viewers on TV.We dont want to forget him,and with a large degree of certainy,I dont think he will ever be forgotten.....

Oh man... this is so sad. But Roy and Laura are together, forever.. happy and healthy once again.

I really hope that the producers of the show will allow Boyd and crew to do a tribute show to the man, and Discovery AIRS it.

God bless you Roy.

Paradise forever now. Although I never personally knew him I am sure at this moment he has his little smile on his face.

The world has lost another talented "old school" fabricator. He will be missed. I am happy that he was able to join his wife so quickly, without a long drawn out torture. Rest in peace. Frown Frown Frown

Hello! New Guy Here..

I just wanted to say iam very sorry to hear the loss of Roy.He was the best part of American Hotrod, and his loving wife who passed also,
a very sad loss.

He kind of made me think of my late grandfather,
no bull, always was in a "mood" lol..But roy sure
brought back some of the old ways to the show,I
think he was a soft heart kind of guy.

I hope that there is a show that will be for him and his work.

God bless to Roy and his wife as they travel to
the next big road to heaven..

Its still hard to comprehend that Roy is gone...it seems just a short while back he was partying at that bar and painting people's rear ends, and mooning the train. He seemed so alive and vital then, who would have ever imagined it would only be a short time later that he was no longer around.I had noticed that his airtime in more recent episodes was seriously cut back,a portent of things to come? For me,it just hasnt been the same show without his and Lee's banter and hijinks...I cant picture Lee working with anyone else left there that would be such a good match...overall its a very sad state of affairs....the heart of the show/shop has been taken away, and for me anyway, the heart of the viewers as well....

Very well stated, ag. My sentiments exactly. I can't imagine not seeing him on the show. I hope there will be some kind of tribute to the man and his work, as you suggested.

And Lee working with someone else, can't comprehend that right now. Those guys worked so well off of each other-who can take his place? Roy's passing certainly took the heart out of me with this show, too.
