I saw a new commercial promoting the new seasons of "Deadliest Catch" & "I Shouldn't Be Alive" and the song playing in the background was absolutely incredible.
It was a rock/alternative ballad with a female singer and the lyrics were along the lines of:
- "Only time can turn against us, Cause without you I am helpless ..." - "So I run to you ..."
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me!!! Thank you in advance. (Email me directly at DevilDoc29Palms @ aol.com
I to have been looking for this song so any help would be great.... one thing I'm not certain but I think the second line she sings 'Without you I am worthless'
It could possibly be a studio artist that Discovery hired out, witch would make sence, as many times it's played, the royalities would be racking up. I too would love to find out who it is.
Wow. I keep seeing that commercial and that song is extremely luring. I looked everywhere but could not find a hint of it. The only thing I found was a reference to this thread! lol
If anyone does figure it out, please post it info on it. I fear it's probably just a studio artist as well. Would be a shame cuz it's sounds like a good song.
This is just a guess but the genre of the music was similar to Evanescence. Non of their current songs are like that but I recently went to their web page and they are in the middle of recording their next album. Perhaps that was a snipet of one of their new songs????
Hey we started this thread in another fourm also, see http://community.discovery.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/8081928318/m/7881978028
But apperently there is a lot of people looking for this song. I was also thinking along the lines of Hilary Duff, but anyway, I put in a request to View Relations so hopefully I'll hear back from them.
it's interesting you should say that what4893 because I to thought it sounded like Amy Lee and was wondering if maybe it was one of the songs recorded for the Narnia soundtrack that didnt get used (Amy's stuff was rejected for being to dark)
hey, i think that song is pretty cool too and i've also been looking for it. i've searched the lyrics over and over on every search engine i can think of, but have empty-handed every time. i need help finding this song too! And i think nightflyer is right about the lyrics being "but without you i am worthless". if anyone can find ANYTHING on this song, PLEASE POST YOUR INFO! thanks!
I just went through the same process of tracking this song down as well, still no luck. I'm assuming someone will catch this thread and let us know on Monday.
The lyrics sound like... "Only time can turn against us, cause without you i am helpless, so i run to you , so i run to you"
This definiely is not Evanescence. It sounds like T.a.T.u We all might have to wait til the credits roll on March 10th for the show to air on Discovery. I've emailed the DC and haven't heard from them. Happy hunting.
considering they are using the same song to promo both 'The Deadliest Catch' and 'I Shouldn't be Alive', I wouldn't bank on it being anywhere in the actual show, as is often the case with movie trailers as well music that appears in the trailer doesn't automatically mean it'll ever be used in the movie.
the only reason I thought I'd better point that out is that there are actually 2 Amy Lee's, one is the lead vocalist of Evanescence (and was the one I was refering to earlier in the thread about the possibility of it being one of the rejected Narnia song's) and the other Amy Lee is a solo jazz artist.
I just found something 'interesting' as well...on a the site http://www.brucehanifan.com/ in the news section I found this.....
'This last year has brought some interesting and challenging projects to the table. I completed scoring for a ten-part series for DISCOVERY CHANNEL about Alaskan Crab Fishing called “Deadliest Catch”. The music has Americana elements, as well as intense drama.I’ve just been signed on to provide music for the second season of “Deadliest Catch”, airing early in 2006. I also will be scoring an additional series for DISCOVERY dealing with more of “the world’s deadliest jobs”.'

I think it's just the reverb on the singers mic. I've been listening to music non-stop for almost 4 hours now and I can't seem to find anyone that matches closer then Hilary Duff. It's for sure not Amy Lee doesn't even come close.
ya i am looking for it too as well as the song at the end on the second last episode (the clock is ticking) it repeat the phrase tear it up or tear me up and im wondering what the song is and who it is by? any help would be appechiated
I can go you 1 better ehawk9 http://www.silvermusic.us/ you can download the silver track on the website plus there's info about releases and stuff if your interested in hearing more.
yep I know its not the song we have all been looking for but if you look back about 7 posts to the message tmlrulz posted he asked about that song so I gave him the details.
By now, I think its safe to assume that the song does not exist outside the commercial, but I'm still hoping that someone will find it. if anyone finds out any information on the song, let me know! thanks.

I was surprised to find this thread..lol I searched for a few hrs today...no luck..usually I'm pretty good at finding this stuff. Guess the best idea is to keep calling them...
I'm sorry I can't help either with the search for the I Shouldn't Be Alive commerical. I think it rocks and would like to hear the whole version. While on the subject, does anyone here know if there is more than the 30-something seconds to the theme for It Takes A Thief? I've had that song in my head longer than the one of discussion and was wondering if anyone has a full version of it. Thanks.
After listening to the song, Turn It up! By Silver is NOT the song we're looking for. Granted the song isn't half bad, but the vocalist for the song we're looking for is female not male. Granted Turn it up is going to/Should be in the show, it's not the song in the ad.
yep I know its not the song we have all been looking for but if you look back about 7 posts to the message tmlrulz posted he asked about that song so I gave him the details.
as I said about 6 posts back sinni
What if we do find out what the song is, will it realy make us happy? I have been hearing the song for over a week now, and I truely believe that if I heard the full version now, I would not be able to ejnoy it as much as I would the 2nd or 3rd time I heard it, know what I mean?
yep I know exactly what you mean....but now it's become a matter of principle.....even if I never bother to actually listen to the full version, I must now know who it is by
This is just a guess but I have heard a female singer from the Band "Within Temptation" and, though I havent heard them in a while, it could possibly be them. I think thy had a new album out in '05 so maybe DC took a clip from that. I havent looked at the lyrics, but maybe it will lead us closer rather than farther...
Within Temptaion isn't even close. don't bother checking people. After hearing Tatu "how soon is now" I find that a closer vocal match. This is really strange though that there are no other forums even talking about this song. millions hear it and there has to be someone that knows.
not to start a different song search, but I've yet to be able to find a place to get the song by Silver called "Turn it up" its not on their website or itunes. any ideas?
I have to agree with all of the above. It's a pretty cool peice of music, and it's almost taunting to have it there in the commercial but not find it anywhere else. This happens a lot with commercials ... I hope the information is released sometime, somewhere.

I've also heard Hilary Duff and Lindsey Lohan mentioned. Unfortunately there are a lot of female vocalists out there. I'm hoping that the music wasn't just cut for the commercial. If anything, DC should see all the hype and say 'Huh.. maybe we should make some money off this and release a CD for one of the series with this song on it.' Hopefully we'll find out more when the two series air next week.
Hi folks-- I really the female voice is that of FeFe Dobson. She has very strong vocals, and has an album that is due out soon-- might be on it. Check out her current music and see for your yourself! Hope this helps-- I am on the hunt too.
Wow. Discovery have to be some of the biggest jackasses around if they can't even answer a simple question like which song is playing on one of their commercials. How do idiots like this run networks.
